Kasper de Groot is the owner of Void Amsterdam, a brand new gallery. Its goal, promote young and talented artists. What’s so special about this one?  First its owner. Kasper is a graphic designer, the geek type not the hype type. Meaning he works hard and talk few but straight to the point. Dedicated. Second its location. Void address is an “1/2″ it means its an in between level, just like “in John Malcovich’s head”. A concrete long spacious gallery exposing artists work. 

Mainly photographs and design prints. Third its fair concept. Kasper establish a relationship with its artists and collaborators as free as possible. At the opposite of the conventional that suck most of the sale revenue. Void made a social and cultural  choice rather than an economical one. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Just that last fact should convince you to support it and come to their location on June 16. But as a truster* it is my duty to please the curious one.

Nuit Blanche gave Void the lead at Loods6 with one spirit: do good but have fun. The location will be divided in 2 spaces. You’ll find a movie project, streamed live in Berlin and NYC and an unique installation in the other. Add to that  another projection in the basement honouring Anton Corbijn. Its OK if you don’t know him, you can’t be an expert on everything.  What I like about Kapser is that he’s thoughtful so he prepare a Question&Answer at the end of the three projections. For people like me that don’t know much about art its the perfect opportunity to get a response to my numerous interrogations.

The whole Nuit Blanche team is working really hard at the office of Krux, sometimes you forget which treasures are hidden right next to you. It’s so nice and relaxing to take a stroll through the craftsmen-street. We will need this concerning the stressful period which is coming at us soon. Someone who builds violins on the right, designing typographies on the left, fashion, photography, it’s all there.

Really excited about the 16th, the modern Agora at Krux, check it out!

It has something to do with grandmothers, you will have to check it out. Ian Fremont talked with her about her previous work.

Anne Maike, director, already participated to Nuit Blanche 10’ and 11’ with unique theatrical performances. She found in Nuit Blanche an incomparable opportunity to explore her own creative limits. Obviously she did push them and she is still willing to this year.

In 2011, Miss Mertens directed a play on societal issues, wedding and traditions with the intention of telling interesting stories in a theatrical way.. of being as intense and realistic as possible. The concept filled the Parool Theatre at three occasions. No seat, no problem; people were sitting on the floor and standing on walls just to check Mertens’ piece. This initiative and its brief success convinced her to make a full play out of this direction.

Originally from Breda, Anne Maike moved to Utrecht for her Film classes and quickly decided to settle in Amsterdam to finish a Theatre and industry BBA(/MA). In addition to her freelance work with professionals, Anne Maike made a play with boys in Prison and another project with unprivileged kids from the schilderswijk The Hague.

I wish I could share with you all the aspects of what Miss Mertens prepared for Nuit Blanche 12’. Still I want you to be captivated, Anne Maike is a must on June 16 evening. She will be directing a bridge between generations, in an quite liberated way bringing together opposites. I highly suggest everyone to start NB with Anne Maike. The ride will be worth it. “All in” !
